L.A. Care’s eConsult Program Reaches Milestone of 15,000 Electronic Consultations

Nation’s Largest Publicly Operated Health Plan Deploys New Telehealth System that Improves Patient Access to Specialty Care

LOS ANGELES – L.A. Care Health Plan, the nation’s largest publicly operated health plan, announces that for its eConsult telehealth program, more than 15,000 “eConsults”, which are electronic consultations between primary care providers (PCP) and specialists, have been initiated.  The program is the largest rollout of its type in the nation, used by 1,300 PCPs in 108 community clinic/health center sites across L.A.

HITEC-LA Improves Care and Generates Jobs in L.A. County through its Health IT Service Partners

More than 5,000 Los Angeles County health care providers have joined the Health Information Technology Extension Center for Los Angeles (HITEC-LA), which helps physicians switch from paper files to more efficient computerized systems. Since its inception in 2010, HITEC-LA has helped 3,700-plus primary care providers go live with electronic health records, or EHRs. More than 1,800 have achieved meaningful use so far.
